Writing is therapy

When you have to deal with something alone, it’s easy for your thoughts to get wound up inside your head.

It’s hard to understand the situation and it’s hard to admit difficult truths to yourself.

This is why you might go to a therapist (and, regardless of any alternatives, this is often a good idea).

However, a lot of what a therapist does is simply make you say how you actually feel which helps you to understand it.

In this sense, writing is like therapy.

Putting things down into words forces you to be honest about what you’re going through and makes it easier to admit things to yourself.

Write for others if you think it will benefit them but never undervalue the advantages of writing for yourself.
