Two wrong assumptions about interruptions

When you get caught up in the race for efficiency and optimisation, anything that you don’t think will move you closer to your goal can seem like a waste of time.

However, this perspective makes two assumptions that are almost always wrong.

1. The goal you are aiming for is the only and/or best goal

2. What you have planned in order to achieve your goal is the best way to do it

Allowing yourself time to not follow the plan can definitely result in the feeling of lost opportunity and impatience.

However, if you approach an interruption with this attitude, it’s almost certain that this will be the outcome.

Alternatively, accepting interruptions as opportunities to learn in other areas is often the best way to identify the two wrong assumptions that you have made.
