The world isn’t more stressful, you’re just more aware

Political dramas are not new.

Hyped-up news channels are not new.

Uninformed activists are not new.

Strange, disturbing, scary, worrying people, situations, and events are not new.

Having an extension of your body that constantly delivers information about all of this to your eyeballs every millisecond of the day is new and it is a lot for the brain to deal with.

As a species, we’re still adapting to this sensory overload and the exact effects it’s having on us are still not known.

Stress, pressure, doubt and fear are common reactions and the best chance we have now is to understand that we still have the power to turn it off.

You might look at awareness as a responsibility.

But you also have a responsibility to yourself to keep yourself sane.
