Step 1: Measure the results

Measurement can often be thought of as an optimization step. With so many unknown variables to process when starting a new project, the idea of measuring KPIs seems impossible when you don’t even have the project conceptualized.

However, the inherent requirement of KPIs is that you have to very clearly state the goals that you which to measure against. The question they pose: “what is your desired outcome?”, is the most relevant question before starting any project.

The exact measurement statistics may change as the process develops, but by beginning with the intention to measure, our intentions are clearer from the start.
