If you’re asking someone else for their input, make it as clear as possible how their skills/experience are going to help with your exact situation.
If you’re asking someone to get you in touch with someone else, write a sample of an email that they can copy and paste instead of having to write it themselves.
If you’re stuck and you’re not sure about what help you need, give them a framework to work in so you can break the problem down for them as much as you can before going to them for their advice.
People might want to help you, but if they don’t get anything in return and they have other pressing issues to attend to, you’ll find yourself at the bottom of their priorities list.
Make it easy for them.
