Are you apologizing too much?

If it’s not your fault, don’t apologize. It can be tempting to try and make up for an inconvenience to someone else through what feels like empathy by saying sorry.

We do this because we want the other person to understand that we have acknowledged that there is something wrong. We’re trying to level with them.

But, if the situation wasn’t caused by you directly then apologizing only deteriorates your position of expertise.

If it’s not your fault, there’s nothing to say sorry for.
